Winner of IEEE SMCS Thesis Grant Initiative

The System, Man, and Cybernetics Society (SMC) presents the Thesis Grants Initiative with the aim of recognizing the outstanding students and young professional members of SMCS who, early in their career, contributed to major advancements of theory or applications of systems science & engineering, human-machine systems, and cybernetics. Accomplishments include theoretical and technological advances, improvements in processes, or development of new products or procedures related to the fields of interest of the SMC.

AltumView is honored to announce that Dr. Chao Shen from our robotics department has received the highly prestigious award for Outstanding SMCS PhD Thesis Work on Systems Science and Engineering for his work:

“Motion Control of Autonomous Underwater Vehicles Using Advanced Model Predictive Control Strategy”

The list of winners were announced on October 8th, 2018 during the Award Ceremony of SMC 2018 in Miyazaki, Japan. The competition was fierce with many outstanding candidates. As always, we are extremely proud of Dr. Shen and his accomplishments. Keep up the great work!
