Senior Hardware Engineer

AltumView Systems Inc. is an artificial intelligence (AI) company founded by a group of industry veterans and prominent university professor. We are developing intelligent software and hardware products for applications such as senior care, education, and smart city. We have a strong R&D team consisting of about 10 PhDs, as well as an experienced development team that includes engineers in hardware, firmware, cloud, mobile app, quality assurance, and manufacturing.

Key Responsibilities

⦁    Lead hardware team in all aspects of the design and development of artificial intelligence and machine learning products

⦁    Understand and document high level hardware requirements

⦁    Responsible for Schematic capture and layout of high complexity, high density modules

⦁    Collaborate with PCB team to complete component placement and board layout

⦁    Generate and execute hardware development and verification plans including hardware schedule, design reviews, troubleshoot hardware & manufacturing issues

⦁    Firmware and software development and integration

⦁    Ensure compliance to EMC, EMI and quality processes as defined by our product development plan

⦁    Assist factory processes (i.e. DFM, DFT, NPI and Manufacturing Test)

⦁    Manage product life cycle issues including obsolescence, excessive lead times, alternative selection, etc.

⦁    Drive and establish best practices and development processes to ensure successful new product developments as measured by timeliness, quality, product cost, and investment

⦁    Provide training and mentoring to team members and provide HW support to other groups in the company

Requirements

⦁    Post-secondary degree in Electrical/Electrical Engineering or Equivalent with more than 5 years of design experience

⦁    Solid knowledge of Electrical Circuit Theory and Analysis, Processor, and Embedded OS.

⦁    Expertise in ARM system design working with highly complex electronics and high density multilayer printed circuit boards

⦁    Expertise in high speed designs and signal integrity

⦁    Demonstrated expertise in supporting and maintain designs successfully throughout the entire product lifecycle

⦁    Expertise in designing interfaces such as USB, UART, I2C, SPI, SDIO, Wi-Fi, PoE and Ethernet

⦁    Experience with integration of embedded system and user interface

⦁    Experience in designing to meet DFM and DFT requirements

⦁    Broad Experience with systemic and advanced trouble shooting techniques to component and silicon level

⦁    Hands-on experience with surface mount components and assembly

⦁    Good organizational skills, methodical, self-motivated, detail and achievement oriented, while excelling in a dynamic multi-tasking fast paced environment

⦁    Must work well individually and in a team environment

⦁    Must have excellent written and verbal communications skills

⦁    Hardware project management skill is preferred

⦁    Experience in HDL and simulation is a bonus

⦁    Camera design experience is a bonus

⦁    Consumer electronic product design experience is a bonus
